## About
Born and raised in NH, Kurt has spent his adult life in service to our state and country. Married for over 40 years to his wife Bethene and living in her 200- year old homestead our Son and grandchildren live in Keene. Kurt has served for many years as a Moderator in Strafford, as an officer of his church, and spent 8 years serving in the NH House. I believe the NH advantage is small, frugal government that  leaves localities and individuals maximum freedom. The absence of sales and income taxes has been the foundation of one of the most successful and resilient economies and made NH one of the most desirable place in our country s to live. I've been a long-time advocate and champion for citizen's Right to Know and for Life. In my 8 years as a State Rep, I worked hard, missing hardly any days or votes. I believe or biggest political problem is the lack of civility and have always striven to give coutesy and respect to those who disagree with me.

## Key Issues
- **Goveernment transparency and accountability**: People should be able to get information about what/how/who/when government officals do. NH law on this is very weak with no meaningful penalty for government offices/agencies who simply deny people documentatio and routinely hold secret meetings and otherwise conceal their activities. I will, again, champion an oversight position to help taxpayers avoid having to sue to get information they need.
- **Fiscal Responsibility**: The government that governs the best governs the least. 



















Small frugl government begins with controlling spending. The government should never have to borroww to pay for programs and shouldn't start a program without income tp pay for it. Conservative budgeting generates surpluses . During my 8 years as a Representative, we always ran surpluses and used them to send hundreds of millions of dollars to local communities to help lower property taxes. NH has consistently refused any sales or income tax, and I will continue that. Today, the state is turning to gambling for income and tthis is a very risky path becauyse gambling revennue is notoriously volatile and a single down year could create a laarge deficit. We should strive to keep the entire state budget as close to level as possible.
